A Review of the History of Shushtar Faculty of Art, Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz

The first steps in establishing this faculty were taken in 1994 under the name "Shushtar Faculty of Teacher Training" and the first group of teacher training students began their studies in 1996. In the early 1980s, due to Khuzestan's need for an art faculty, the mission of this faculty changed and, upon obtaining the necessary permits to admit students in the field of art, the first group of graphic and painting students began their studies in this faculty in Bahman 2002. Currently, students of this faculty are studying at various master's, bachelor's and non-continuous bachelor's degrees in the fields of art, graphic and painting research.

The main location of this faculty is located on a 60-hectare land in a university area in the northeast of Shushtar city. This faculty has three educational and administrative buildings with an area of ​​more than 6,000 square meters of office, educational and workshop space and 3 dormitory buildings with a capacity of about 400 students.

The educational and dormitory facilities of this faculty include three administrative, educational and workshop buildings with an area of ​​6000 square meters and three dormitory buildings with a capacity of about 400 people. A specialized library with 11000 Persian books and 1500 Latin books, as well as subscription to about 40 Persian and English periodicals and use of up-to-date databases from around the world are other facilities of this faculty. The Faculty of Art of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz is one of the most beautiful art faculties in the country and has a green space of 12 hectares, which is designed for drawing, painting and other artistic activities in a natural setting.

The specialized scientific journal of this faculty, called "Pikereh", has been published with a scientific and research approach since 2012. Student publications with color equipment, student self-service with standard equipment and space, a health hall in the girls' dormitory and an amphitheater with a capacity of 120 people, extracurricular and educational activities are other facilities of this faculty. The student population of this faculty is about 450, and its faculty members and visiting lecturers number over 35.
